event and Conference Manager
The Event and Conference Manager role at NCG has the opportunity to serve 3-4 professional or trade non-profit association clients with their annual conference event design and management needs. Here’s what we’re looking for at NCG:
Responsibilities & Key Duties:
Facilitate and ensure creation, organization, execution and completion of event projects within project timelines
Work with volunteer leadership to build appropriate event design for annual conferences
Develop event project plans and budgets
Ensure projects are on track and within allotted budget
Serve as point of contact both internally and externally
Develop and manage RFP process on behalf of client
Negotiate agreements with various event related vendors such as venues, audio-visual, caterers, exhibit companies, security, ADA accommodation needs, etc.
Negotiate with third party service providers
Anticipate, understand and respond to the needs of both internal and external stakeholders
Assist our marketing team with event related marketing content
Sales for sponsorship, exhibiting and advertising
Manage on-site preparations, production, and event breakdown; ensure consistent service throughout event
Supervise post-event reporting and summaries
Skills and Requirements:
The right future team member will serve several non-profits – overseeing their event needs. Ideally, this candidate will have 5-10 years of experience and will be interested in growing to serve as our Director of Events in the future.
For those detail aficionados out there, here's a snapshot of what we're looking for:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in event management or related discipline
Proven experience as an event planner, designer and project manager
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and project management skills
Outstanding event planning skills
Flexible and comfortable with change
Eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced role
Effective communication skill in both written and spoken forms: excellent grammar and clear concise emails
Conflict management and problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented mentality
Ability to influence without authority
Technology savvy, MAC experience a plus
Polished professional who presents well to members and association leaders
Association management software and non-profit experience a plus
Travel 4-8 times a year for 4-7 days at a time required
